Cates is great

It is such a pleasure to have Cates in my home. She has adapted really well to the change from kennel life to life in a home. Cates has learned the pleasure of squeaking toys, sometimes for several minutes straight! Cates doesn't want to destroy toys though. She loves the sound of the squeakies and will continue to squeak the toy even though the squeakie is broken.
Cates has also learned that the kitchen is where food is prepared. She stays a respectful distance out of the kitchen while meals are fixed. Usually she assumes the sphinx position to wait for me to clear the kitchen for her to eat.
Cates really enjoys walks. She stays on a loose lead the entire time we're out. I've been experimenting with jogging short distances during our walks. She seems to do really well and doesn't veer off course. She gets really enthused by meeting people as we go.

Sleeping

Like many greyhounds, Cates has shown great skill in sleeping.

When invited to visit other greyhounds, Cates chooses to cuddle up and sleep.
She is learning to roach (sleep on her back). Unfortunately there are no pictures of roaching because Cates does it in the dead of night and foster mom is too slleepy to get the camera ;)

Watching

I'm looking out for my forever home.
My foster mom took me out for many rides in the car today. We went to a park where I was able to walk and run around.
Then we went to another place where I saw deer and SQUIRRELS! I sort of thought that the deer was another greyhound because it didn't run away from us. The squirrels are funny critters but they didn't bother me too much.
Then we went to visit more greyhounds, but I was soooooo tired, I just fell asleep.

Home Sweet Foster Home

Kiowa Cash Cates has arrived! She is a sweet girl. The wider world is so strange to a greyhound just off the track. She is fascinated with the new smells and sights of a home. We will be working on getting accustomed to different floors and stairs. I have no doubt that she will soon be more comfortable with life in a home. Stay tuned for pictures!
